Send WhatsApp messages from Velora with Meta's official API.

12 min

Velora can send WhatsApp messages with the WhatsApp Cloud API, Meta's official API. Without this connection, Velora offers a simple wa.me link, with nothing to set up.

Before you start

  • A Meta business portfolio in your agency's name.
  • A phone number not already used in the WhatsApp app.
  • A payment method in your WhatsApp Business account, since some messages are paid at Meta.
  • The Owner or Admin role in Velora.

Steps

  1. Create an app at Meta. On developers.facebook.com, create a Business type app and link it to your agency's portfolio.
  2. Add the WhatsApp product. In the app, add WhatsApp and follow the initial setup.
  3. Add your number. In the API setup, add your agency's number and verify it by SMS. Copy its phone number ID: it's an ID, not the number itself.
  4. Create a system user. In business settings, add a system user with the Admin role, then give it access to your app and your WhatsApp account.
  5. Generate the permanent token. On that system user, generate a token for your app, with no expiry, and the whatsapp_business_messaging and whatsapp_business_management permissions. Copy it.
  6. Get a message template approved. In WhatsApp Manager, create a template and wait for Meta's approval. Note its exact name and language.
  7. Paste everything into Velora. Fill in “Permanent access token”, “Phone number ID”, “Message template name” and “Template language” (for example en). Click Test. The token is encrypted and won't be shown in full again.

If it doesn't work

  • Test fails → check you pasted the phone number ID, not the phone number.
  • Permission error → the token is missing whatsapp_business_messaging, generate a new one.
  • Message rejected → the template isn't approved yet, or its name and language don't match what's at Meta.
